Buying Guide
- Size and weight capacity: Look for models rated for 20+ pounds per cat and total capacities suitable for multi-cat households. Taller towers offer opportunities for climbing but require a heavier base.
- Stability: Prioritize 4.0 inches (or larger) thick sisal posts and reinforced, double-layered bases. A trapezoidal or multi-point support structure can reduce wobble during play.
- Perches and condos: Choose oversized top perches and multiple private condos to accommodate Maine Coons, which often prefer elevated, private spaces.
- Materials and durability: FSC-certified wood and natural sisal posts improve longevity and environmental impact. Ensure fabrics and hammocks are sturdy and easy to clean.
- Maintenance and assembly: Consider models with straightforward assembly and easily replaceable scratch surfaces if needed over time.
- Multi-cat suitability: If you have multiple large cats, opt for models with high weight tolerance across the structure and multiple scratching zones to minimize competition.
- Safety considerations: Ensure the base is wide enough and the center of gravity remains low when the cat tree is loaded with multiple cats.
